Shaped Wall Paintings:

My paintings often blur the lines between painting, sculpture, and installations.

I make relaxed, unstretched-shaped canvases. The stuffed "tube" like borders have a sense of volume and weight that hug the paintings. The paintings' surfaces might hold a subtle, un-pretentious bulge and other so-called "expressions," allowing the nature of the unstretched canvas to relax and breathe an overall sense of ease. Creating abstract tube-framed paintings enables me to contemplate and actualize the foundation of my paintings, being deliberate and intuitive in forming shaped framing that reflects in the overall abstraction.

Paint on Translucent Scrim:

Painting on translucent material is like painting on air. It exposes everything about painting and its constructs creating an openness, and clarity in seeing pure paint suspended on the transparent scrim. The paint floats on the surface, dripping, exposing paint strokes trapped in a moment that passes oftentimes casting shadows on the back surface and exposed walls beneath them.

I add a second layer and draw with thread between the two surfaces. The drawn satin colored threads become an extension of the painted line and its ability to dive down below the surface and draw shapes that float between the two layers.

Note: Translucent scrim is difficult to photograph, the subtle shifts & layers are difficult to capture. I will post videos soon.
